At Home with The Previns
Andre and Anne-Sophie
It’s not often that we manage to enjoy the company of two superstars of the classical world on one radio programme. In this case, however, marriage does make it a little easier!
At Home With The Previns provides us with a wonderful opportunity to relax with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Andre Previn in Munich, for a programme which not only allows us insight into their lives and music, but during the conversation they actually find things out about each other.
When did Andre first set eyes on Anne-Sophie? Do their artistic differences rock the marriage? Why did Anne-Sophie throw a new composition back at Andre? They tell all!
Musically there’s plenty to hear and discuss too, including Anne-Sophie’s CD Tango, Song and Dance featuring that wonderful suite specially written by Andre for the title. Andre also revisits Porgy and Bess, a 1959 oscar-winner for him, this time for piano and violin, and his recent grammy-winning recording of Korngold film scores. They both talk about the Previn Violin Concerto recorded by Anne-Sophie with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. There’s also some old favourites including music by Brahms, Sibelius and the complete Beethoven Violin Concerto.
2 hours have never passed so quickly!
